Our Story
Rooted in Knoxville, Built for Community
Our family has called Knox County home since the 1930s. What started as a small general store grew into a legacy of community service, stewardship, and care for neighbors through every season.
Emory Mills was created to carry that legacy forward with a senior living community that feels welcoming, dignified, and deeply connected to the people we serve.
A Legacy of Service
1930s Roots
Our grandparents opened a general store that became a place to connect, share resources, and lift the community during the Great Depression.
Generations of Care
Our father, Flonze E. Sorey, carried the tradition forward through his business ventures, ministry, and investment in local projects.
Emory Mills Today
When our family searched for quality senior living in this area, we built Emory Mills to provide the level of care we wanted for our own loved ones.
Why We Built Emory Mills
We believe senior living should feel like home, with warmth, connection, and a team that treats every resident like family. Our community was designed to combine thoughtful care with inviting spaces where people can thrive.
- •Compassionate assisted living and memory care
- •Purposeful design that supports comfort and safety
- •Programs that foster joy, meaning, and connection
